OYA Solar is looking to hire a Solar Design Engineer to work in its engineering team focused on building out its rooftop and utility scale portfolio across North America. The Solar design Engineer utilizes their knowledge of core technologies, engineering best practice, applicable codes and standards to design, develop, review, verify and commission commercial rooftop and ground mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Storage systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of project design for solar PV and battery storage systems, including but not limited to, planning, drawing generation, quality assurance, on-site audits, design verification, punch list creation, and other activities as required
- Generating drawing sets used for permitting, construction, feasibility and due diligence, including but not limited to RFPs, municipal and AHJ permit packages, Issued for Construction (IFC) and As-builts
- Review project designs and drawing sets for small rooftop to large ground mount solar PV systems
- Work across functional departments to ensure projects are designed and built in accordance with regulatory codes and standards, engineering best practice, as well as OYA/customer/industry requirements and quality standards
- Create, deliver and maintain documentation for all project responsibilities as required
- Interface with internal stakeholders to understand their design requirements, guidelines and other items as required
- Provide technical support on projects for external and internal stakeholders
- Be a subject matter expert on local codes and regulations regarding Solar PV and Storage in all markets OYA is active
Required Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Power Systems (Generation, Transmission, Distribution)
- Knowledge of US National Electrical Code
- Knowledge of general utility requirements
- Familiar with different PV and Storage system components such as PV modules, inverters, transformers,
